20131116 Installing Air Fibers for the Polio Emergency Operations Center in Katsina in Northern Nigeria. PROCEDURE: Before ascending the mast I call my Nigerian colleague who is at the carrier's mast and we validate out Bluetooth headphones connected and everything working. Once comms established, we climb our masts. Speaking to each other through our Bluetooth headsets, we make our respective adjustments to alight the Air Fibers. High precision is required as being off even a few db can cause both reliability and performance issues. By design, the Air Fiber's are situated high up the mast- about 100 ft- to ensure no structures or trees between the Fibers could potentially interfere with the connection. Video is shaky because I'm working untethered videoing with one hand while holding onto the mast with the other. The reason why I'm working unteathered is because if I see a group of guys approaching in my direction on motorcycles, I need to climb down ASAP to "unass the AO" before they reach me. The night before commencing this work my colleague informed me that Boko Harem shot an engineer off of a mast in the prior month not far from where we were working.
