Mopar Tech pt 1; kickdown/throttle linkage issues-Claiming free stolen hp & tq? Cuda Barracuda

potential free power grab from correcting carb/kickdown linage deficiency when using aftermarket carb, intake manifold, edelbrock mopar throttle linkage adapter, & an automatic transmission kickdown linkage. By the way, I didn’t sleep well the night before so you’ll have to excuse my super low budget film video performance. Haha. Anyway, so my kickdown travel was maxing out before the throttle travel did. A nearly stock drivetrain combo/1500 stall converter & 2.76 gear in the back probably won’t notice any real difference. If you’ve got an original intake manifold, carb, original throttle linkage & original kickdown set up, you most likely don’t have this linkage deficit issue. This is a common subtle mostly undetectable performance power rob. Although I was aware of this potential problem, I had no idea I had this issue. In this case, “good enough” can cost you a noticeable amount of free stolen power to the wheels. One issue of Mopar Muscle (Jan. '99) a guy with a ‘74 cuda 340 with 3.91 gears reported he had the same issue & went from mid 14’s to 13.60 in the ¼ at the track just by fixing that issue only. My improvement was very noticeable for sure, no doubt about that. I could feel the peddle go down a little further also when you floor it. There was a lot more wheel spin in 1st gear when accelerating and 1st to 2nd gear rip was definitely more violent & longer. This was on grippy rough concrete roads too mind you, not that slick smooth tarmac stuff. This is a nice power upgrade & it was pretty much free & the few hours spent sorting it out was well worth it. If you had the same linkage deficit I did your results may vary of course depending on gearing, engine output, stall speed, vehicle weight.
