Well, as all who know me know, Kate Bush is my favorite musical artist. And Wuthering Heights has been my favorite song since I first heard it on the radio. It came out in 1978 on Kate Bush’s debut album, The Kick Inside. We are proud to present here to you an adaptation of Wuthering Heights sung in the voice of Heathcliff. Heathcliff is the main protagonist in Emily Bronte’s book of the same name in which Catherine is a ghost. Kate Bush was inspired to write the song after seeing an adaption of the haunting drama on English television.

I was inspired to name our adaptation of Wuthering Heights “Heathcliff Revisited” by Evelyn Waugh’s drama, Brideshead Revisited, which I have always thought to be a similar, English-style unrequited love story with bigger-than-life external forces.

My new-found friend and talented musician, Wes Lunsford, did an awesome job in singing Heathcliff’s perspective and playing both guitars. Wes lives and works in Nashville, Tennessee. He is now a Kate Bush fan, and like so many of us, he just can’t get enough of her, especially after I told him David Gilmour, one of his heroes, helped put her on the map and sings on Pull Out The Pin.

By no means do I take credit for Wuthering Heights: Heathcliff Revisited. Most of the original lyrics remain the same, while segments have simply been reworded to flip the perspective from Catherine’s to Heathcliff’s. This is a labor of love – a love for the original song and Kate Bush herself as a musician and personality. I know Wuthering Heights is cherished by Kate Bush fans around the world and I hope you enjoy listening to this adaptation.

Kate Bush, if you are reading this, first, I hope you and your family are in good health and high spirits, and, second, I also hope that you give this adaptation of Wuthering Heights your blessings. And next time you talk to Elton John, give him my warmest regards. I saw him in Tel Aviv – he was absolutely fabulous!

LYRICS

Out on the wiley, windy moors
We'd roll and fall in green
I had a temper like your jealousy
Too hot, too greedy
How could you leave me
When I needed to possess you?
I hated you, I loved you, too

Bad dreams in the night
They told me you were going to lose the fight
Leave behind your wuthering, wuthering
Wuthering Heights

Catherine, it's me, I'm Heathcliff
You’ve come home, you’re so cold
Enter in through my window

Catherine, it's me, I'm Heathcliff
You’ve come home, you’re so cold
Enter in through my window

Ooh, it gets dark, it gets lonely
On the other side from you
I pine a lot, I find the lot
Falls through without you
You’re coming back, love
Cruel Catherine, my one dream
My only mistress

Too long you roam in the night
You’re coming back to my side, to put it right
You’re coming home to wuthering, wuthering
Wuthering Heights

Catherine, it's me, I'm Heathcliff
You’ve come home, you’re so cold
Enter in through my window

Catherine, it's me, I'm Heathcliff
You’ve come home, you’re so cold
Enter in through my window

Ooh, you can have it
You can grab my soul away
Ooh, you can have it
You can grab my soul away
You know it's me, Heathcliff

Catherine, it's me, I'm Heathcliff
You’ve come home, you’re so cold
Enter in through my window

Catherine, it's me, I'm Heathcliff
You’ve come home, you’re so cold
Enter in through my window

Catherine, it's me, I'm Heathcliff
You’ve come home, you’re so cold
