House Managers CAUGHT Manipulating Evidence Presented at Trial
Did House impeachment managers actually falsify evidence of another private citizen during the impeachment trial?
Today on Sekulow, we discussed this week in the Senate impeachment trial. Today, President Trump’s attorneys began their presentations.
We’re on day four of the Senate impeachment trial, but it is day one of President Trump’s legal team’s opportunity to put forward their case. We’re hearing that the Trump team’s presentations may be four hours or less. That could shorten the timeline of this trial significantly.
Yesterday however, during his presentation, Congressman Eric Swalwell – one of the House Impeachment Managers – spoke about a tweet from a woman named Jennifer Lynn Lawrence. Congressman Swalwell said during his presentation:
"On Jan. 3, another supporter tweets, ‘We’ve been marching all over the country for you Mr. President. Now we will bring it to DC. On Jan. 6, we will proudly stand beside you. Thank you for fighting for us.’
When President Trump reposted her tweet, she wrote back, ‘Best day ever. Thank you for the retweet. It has been an honor to stand up and fight for you and our nation. We will be standing strong on Jan. 6th in DC with you. We are bringing the cavalry Mr. President.’ We are bringing the cavalry. That was the consistent message."
Except two VERY important parts of that were completely fabricated. In that tweet that they showed up on the screen during their presentation, her account had the blue checkmark from Twitter, which means she has a verified account. I have a verified account on Twitter. On that platform, the verified check mark means you speak for some kind of group, represent an organization, or are a member of the media or some other kind of public figure. In other words, you speak with some kind of authority and maybe you are held to a higher standard on what kind of statements you tweet out.
Well, guess what? That blue mark is not really on her Twitter account. She does not have a verified account. It was added by the impeachment managers specifically for Rep. Swalwell’s presentation.
The question is who on the House manager’s team falsified the evidence presented to the U.S. Senate? What kind of trouble will they face?
It gets even worse, because they misinterpreted what she said. Rep. Swalwell misread her statement, inserting the word “cavalry” – a military term – where it never existed. The tweet actually read: “We are bringing the Calvary, Mr. President” and that is what President Trump retweeted. The term she actually used, “Calvary,” is a specifically Christian religious term. And in the context she was saying they were bringing Christ to Washington, DC. The term Calvary literally refers to where the crucifixion of Jesus Christ took place. The reality was she was holding a prayer vigil that day.
Congressman Swalwell, who should know better, confused the religious term Calvary with the military term cavalry. Was that confusion done on purpose like the blue check mark was?
The full broadcast is complete with much more analysis of this week in the impeachment trial, the deceptive tactics used by the House impeachment managers, and a look forward in the impeachment trial where a final vote could come as soon as Saturday. We were also joined by ACLJ Special Advisor for National Security and Foreign Policy Ric Grenell, who talked about his new blog about some troubling revelations about President Biden’s nominee for Director of the CIA.
