Soldiers assigned to Task Force 1st Battalion, 28th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division, participate in an Expert Infantry Badge and Expert Soldier Badge assessment located on Fort Benning, Georgia, Feb. 1 through 5, 2021. The EIB and ESB assessments recognize Soldier excellence in combat skills and increase individual, unit and overall Army readiness. Of the 310 Soldiers who tested for badges, 60 earned an EIB and nine earned an ESB. Soldiers can earn the title “True Blue” for EIB and “Perfect Edge” for ESB upon completing 30 tasks successfully on the first attempt. Only 16 earned “True Blue” and two earned “Perfect Edge.” Sgt. Maj. Jamie Giles, the operations sergeant major for Task Force 1-28, explains the purpose of EIB and ESB. First Lt. Kaitlin Grisanti, an infantry officer assigned to the 198th Infantry Brigade, describes what earning the badge does for her and fellow Soldiers.(U.S. Army video by 50th Public Affairs Detachment)
