How I Made my Valentine Tic Tac Toe Sign

I found this cutest Tic Tac Toe unfinished wood board at Hobby Lobby and I wanted to turn this into a cute Valentine Sign! With just a few extra supplies I had in my stash, I did just that!

Supplies I Used for my Tic Tac Toe Sign

Unfinished Tic Tac Toe Board
Unfinished wood heart
Craft unfinished wood cubes: I found these in the craft section at Dollar Tree and unfinished wood section at Hobby Lobby
Scrapbook paper: I found this white and black Wedding Words scrapbook paper
Dixie Belles Caviar and Muscadine Wine Chalk Mineral Paint
Mod Podge
Fiskar Self Healing Mat, Cricut craft knife, sandpaper or sand block.
Mod Podge in matte
Hot glue and glue gun

MAKING MY TIC TAC TOE SIGN

I just happened to come across this Tic Tac Toe board at Hobby Lobby in the unfinished wood section!

And I needed a few more fillers for my Valentines tiered tray decor, so I thought I could turn this into a cute sign!

I already have the paint, scrapbook paper and wood heart cutouts in my craft stash so I am ready to go!

Now, I painted my letters in dixie Belle’s Caviar, plus I painted the grooves of the board.

Next I painted my unfinished wood heart in Muscadine Wine.

I was hoping after I decoupage my scrap book paper on the board, I could use my sand paper and expose the grooves.

But that didn’t work out.

If I make another Tic Tac Toe Board Sign, I plan to measure the squares of the board.

Then cut and glue the scrapbook paper on the board.

We’ll see.

I had to go back and paint around the edges and backside of my board in Caviar.

But after I decoupaged my scrapbook paper on, and my letters and heart were dry, it’s time to assemble!

Using my favorite hot glue gun, I hot glued the X’s, O’s, and Heart in place.

Before hot gluing my Heart in place, I used one of my wood cubes first and glued that on so my heart would stand out.

FINALLY I MADE MY “STAND”.

I grabbed four wood cubes, hot glued two of them together.

Once these are ready, I then hot glued these to the backside of my Tic Tac Toe Sign on each side to help my sign stand upright.

I found the best way to get the sign to stand the way I like it.

I add glue to the cubes, hold my sign the way I want it to stand and then butt my cubes up to it, and hold until cured.

Then I repeat this for the second set of cubes.

That is it!
