Our legal system works for elites -- but not so much for the rest of us. With today's ALG Minute, I'm Catherine Mortensen. Consider the recent slap on the wrist given to a former FBI officials who doctored an email to make it appear Carter Page was a Russian agent when Page was actually cooperating with the U.S. government into an investigation of Russian intelligence officials. This was done to keep the false Trump-Russia probe going in 2017. It sends a clear message to Justice Department employees that they can fundamentally alter documents in an attempt to destroy a presidency with a prolonged investigation based on a false pretenses with almost zero repercussions. Three changes that could restore justice to the ‘forgotten man.’ One - lower the cost of law school. Two - lower legal costs through competition. Three - make it easier for people to represent themselves in court. For more details on these reforms check out our article - Justice system that caters to elites is in desperate need of reform
