New Wine Old Wineskins

90 & Out is dedicated to the public reading and understanding of the Christian Bible. New Wine... Old Wineskins... is part of The Parables of Jesus of Nazareth series. The passages from Matthew (9:17), Mark (2:22), and Luke (5:37-38) were read from the New King James Version.

In the last video, we discussed patching old clothes with new patches. Jesus of Nazareth said this parable and then he immediately talked about wine and wineskins. He's displaying a dichotomy of new vs old, like versus unlike.
New wine in old wineskins destroys both. Old one goes in old wineskins, and new wine goes in new wineskins. Preshrunk clothing needs to be patched with a preshrunk patch. If shrunken clothing is patched with an unshrunk patch, both are destroyed.

When we accept the Forgiveness found in Jesus of Nazareth, we must forsake our old lives and adopt new ones following his teachings. If we try to combine the two, we will meet calamity. Our lives will be destroyed by trying to be double-minded and living two contradictory lives.

Don't take my word for it. Pick it up and read it for yourself.

Comment and let me know your thoughts on this parable.

Thank you for watching.
