ingredients
6-8 granny smith apples
1 cup sugar
2 tablespoons of flour (more or less depending on how juicy the apples are
¾ teaspoon of cinnamon
¼ teaspoon nutmeg
1 Tablespoon of Molasses
½ stick of softened butter
2 Tablespoons of shortening
Peel and slice 6-8 apples and place in a large bowl
Line bottom of pie pan with crust.
• Combine sugar, flour, cinnamon and nutmeg in a small bowl
• Spread 3T of the sugar/flour mixture in bottom crust.
• Mix sugar and cinnamon nutmeg mixture over the apples
• Fill the pie plate with the sliced apples.
• Dribble 1T of molasses over of the apples (I like Grandma’s brand molasses)
• Scatter 10 dime-size pieces of butter over apples.
• Put top crust on and weld edges with water
• Mix 1t soft butter with 2ts shortening and spread over top crust. (I also sprinkle a small amount of cinnamon and sugar for flavor on crust)
Cut slits in crust to allow steam to escape.

Bake 4000 for about an hour.
