SERMON NOTES

You Can Trust In God When You Seem All Alone.
1 Kings 19:14
'And he said, “I have been very zealous for the Lord God of hosts; because the children of Israel have forsaken Your covenant, torn down Your altars, and killed Your prophets with the sword. I alone am left; and they seek to take my life.”'

I. When People Have Turned Their Backs (1 Kings 19:1-3)
• We are taking a look into a moment in Elijah’s life.
• Elijah is Prophet. Here is what we know…the Children of Israel are not following, The King (Ahab) is Evil, and his wife (Jezebel) is a force to be reckoned with (A good book to read that speaks on her is “Bad Girls of the Bible” By Liz Curtis Higgs).
• We see that there is an incident that has taken place before hand and we are hearing about the reply from those he is in opposition with.
• Things are so bad that he is running away. Have you ever been in a situation like this?

II. God Provides Wisdom and Strength (1 Kings 19:4-12)
• Elijah decides that he is going to treat their threat as credible.
• We see that when he has reached his point of exhaustion God sends him a care package.
• Sometimes we are not taking time to use the care package that has been given to us. Jesus tells us in (Matt. 4:4) that our food, our power to continue comes from the Mouth of God! His word gives us the strength and energy we need to keep going!
• Elijah meal gives him the endurance and strength to make it to a very significant place…Mount Horeb (The Mountain of God)
• It’s here in this moment that we see Elijah pour out his heart to the LORD.
• Hallelujah we also see God begin to answer him.
• And here is the thing. It is not in the Big Powerful actions sometimes He is answering in a still small voice.
• It’s a Heart thing!

III. God Lets You Know That You Are Not Alone!! (1 Kings 19:13-18)
• Elijah says the situation as it stands now. Sometimes we repeat the severity of the situation just in case God doesn’t get it.
• God then tells him there are some things that he needs to do on his way back.
• Sometimes we are so caught, preoccupied, perplexed by the situation that we are facing that we sometimes are missing the information and blessings that God is giving us!!
• God then drops the boom on him (Elijah)! When God informs him that “I have reserved 7,000 whose knees have not bowed to Baal and every mouth that has not kissed him.
• See we need to know that in times when it seems like we are all alone we are not. (Romans 12:5), (1 Corinthians 12:11-30)
