Domestic cat social behavior ranges from widely dispersed individuals to colonies of wild cats established by groups of cooperating females as colonies congregate around a food source. Usually one of the cats dominates the others within these groups. Each of the cats in the colony has a distinct territory with the largest areas being dominated by sexually active males which may be up to 10 times greater than that of the females and may overlap with many areas of the female. These areas are distinguished by spraying urine, rubbing things at the height of the head with secretions from the face glands and defecation. In between these areas are neutral areas where cats watch and greet each other without conflict
