Tiny Fairy Fort

Late last summer, when the soft Irish rains brought out mushrooms of every shape, size and form. On the ancient stump of a tree in our garden there's a blooming of toadstools, like a tiny fairy fortress. This is just a look around our property at probably the best time of year, the cusp of summer as it becomes autumn.
Ireland is awash with "real" Fairy Forts, the old Celtic fortress battlements that sit usually atop mounds and hills. Locals treat these with the greatest of respect and it's considered very bad luck to interfere with them in any way.
