It's Political and it's Personal

We live in Ireland thanks to Brexit. I am Scottish. Born there, wed, raised a family, worked and expected to end my days there. When I wed my second husband, a disabled Belgian man, England decided people like him...from the EU, not wealthy or bringing "skilled work" to the UK..were no longer allowed to reside in my native land, Scotland. For those not "british", England owns Scotland sadly. Has done for over 300 years. (I am, always have been and always will be a supporter of Scottish Independence). So we got a date of April 1st last year for hubs to leave Scotland or lose what is our sole source of income..the disability income from his native Belgium that I am included upon as his carer and co dependant..I'm disabled too, with a heart arrhythmia, COPD and am going blind.
I fought publicly and privately to remain in Scotland, our Home. I lost. I'll never forget or forgive those who voted for Brexit, uncaring of whom it affected, and what it has done to those like us, forced to leave our homes and find refuge where we could.
We love Ireland. It's our home now. But my soul belongs to Scotland. And *this* is for those in the Scottish Government who refused to stand up to England and fight on behalf of all of us in this situation. I corresponded firsthand with Scottish and Belgian politicians (the English ones would not respond to us) and nobody helped. Cowards all, in the face of Cameron, May and Johnson. And to date nothing appears to have changed.
The song is "Parcel O' Rogues" by The Corries, a great Scottish folk duo. It has a deep and profound meaning stemming from the Jacobite Wars of Independence. And it's every bit as pertinent today.
