Osama Bin Laden had 500 Euros and two phone numbers sewn into his clothes when he was shot dead by U.S. forces, indicating the terrorist ringleader was ready flee at a moment's notice.

Three sources who attended an intelligence briefing on Tuesday told Politico the latest details.

During that meeting, CIA Director Leon Panetta informed members of Congress about the items found on the world's most wanted man when asked why more security personnel weren't protecting Bin Laden in his luxury hideout in Abbotabad, Pakistan.

He said Bin Laden believed his "network was strong enough he'd get a heads-up" before he was attacked, a source told the political website.

Besides the phone numbers and cash - about $750 - additional details about Monday morning's top-secret raid have surfaced.

On Tuesday, the White House reversed its earlier assertion that Bin Laden was armed.

While the 9/11 mastermind resisted, he did not have a weapon on him, nor was his wife killed or used as a human shield when U.S. forces attacked, White House press secretary Jay Carney said.

He said two Al-Qaeda couriers were killed on the first floor of Bin Laden's hideout. In addition, a woman was killed "in the crossfire" on the ground floor.

When U.S. Navy SEALS got to the second floor, a woman - later identified as one of Bin Laden's wives - "rushed" a SEAL and was "shot in the leg but not killed."

Carney attributed the discrepancies to the fog of war.

"What is true is that we provided a great deal of information with great haste," he said adding that some of the information came in "piece by piece."

He added, "We have worked very hard to declassify information in record speed to provide as much insight into this operation as we can, as quickly as we can."
