Seattle Night Photography Sofia the Ghost

So what do you do when you spend a bone chilling night out taking hundreds of pictures just to find out that your sensor froze up and you are down to maybe 100 “good” pictures? Make a photo story out of what you have. I was out in the international district in Seattle Washington with my wife and daughter in January, it was well below freezing and my cameras kept freezing up. That and the lack of light, we decided to cut the sightseeing photo shoot short and go into a few buildings to warm up. Once I was home and looking over the pictures I had taken. I noticed a lot of pictures of my daughter, but almost all of them were blurry. I really wanted to salvage the night, so I put the elements of a night shot, in an historic area, with blurry subject, a brand new fish eye lens, and came up with a very bad ghost story. Tying in elements of scary music, and speeding up the blurry shots made everything come out pretty well. It didn’t hurt that I love taking architectural pictures. I brought my new fisheye lens just to play with, little did I know how creepy pictures can come out with a fish eye lens.
By controlling the factors like, how long the viewer gets to see the picture, and adding in overriding music, it allows the viewer to use their imagination to fill in the blanks, or to see a sharper image than what you were actually able to capture.
