Yay! At Last! Red Dawn Arrives!

It's a bit sarcastic, but sometimes gallows humor is all we got. The world of counter intelligence is ioften called the wilderness of mirrors. This year we have all arrived at that magical forest together. Don't get lost, stay calm and never over react. Especially when you are dealing with something that seems designed to get you to do that. Also remember that calm and panic are both contagious. Be careful what you spread!

Well to all of those who watched Red Dawn and wondered what it would be like to live in occupied territory, your time has come. As I watched the comments in the house during the certification process I noticed the open racism as they tried to scare the crap out of the white people. 7/8th's of me was a tad bit nervous as I watched, and it was eyeing the other 1/8th of me. That side is half Mescalaro Apache and the other half is Cherokee. All my life it's been a three way battles with bitter enemies raging across my mind. The Cherokee Indians were quite friendly to the newly arrived settlers from Europe. Eventually they were run out of the Eastern part of the country and pushed west on the trail of tears. When they got to the west the Mescalaro Apache didn't like them at all. They saw that it was their lack of a rational immigration plan that had led to this in the first place. It was nothing but tension after that. So most of the time those two were occupying another place in my mind and infighting until just the other day. Suddenly I had these two uniting against the 7/8th's Eurotrash/refugee part of me. Twelve days later I remember what they said like it was yesterday. “Looks like it's your turn in the barrel now wide eye! Karma's a bitch! Get off our land!”
That was when I lost it on them. I tried to give them some firewater and tobacco and they laughed at me. “Nice try! You gave us alcohol and we gave you cancer and followed it with Casinos to take your money.” I chucked the tobacco and drank the whiskey.
My wife isn't saddled with this level of internal conflict. She is part Algonquin. They took a different approach to all of this. They had a spiritual leader that must have really gotten wasted on mushrooms or something. He saw nothing but despair in their future and a decision was made by this peaceful tribe. I suspect he saw the endless conflict that played out 12 days ago and realized it never gets any better. I can certainly understand that. There they are issuing appeals for healing while spewing deeply rooted manipulative hate. So I can understand why half of the tribe jumped off of a cliff ala Jim Jones and the other half assimilated and waited for the economic possibilities. I suspect that was when the concept of financial gurus came into being over here. Land givebacks, justifiable guilt money, eventually autonomy and then casinos. So her life was filled with a dreamy sense of opportunity and me? Conflict.
So since that's what it's going to be, here's some advice. Remember that a smile is as contagious as a frown and so it is with happiness versus despair and bravery versus fear. Be careful what you spread!
I leave you with the wise words of our next leader.

“You're a lying dog face pony soldier!”
“He's a one horse pony!”
You're welcome. Bask in the brilliance of his words.
