Bible Quote Jan 20th Matthew 7:12

“So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.” - Matthew 7:12

A pastor friend of mine is grieving the loss of his daughter. I gather she was in her twenties and I don’t know what happened to her. But I know she rests in the arms of the Lord. It is the loss of promise. And the whole family is devastated. What would the father ask of the Lord? Nothing less than what he wants for himself.

The father has been blessed with many children. One of his boys was sick with a bad fever when he was about one years old. They took him to hospital. The child deteriorated and died. He was declared brain dead. The hospital wanted instructions as to the disposal of the body. The father would not give those instructions. He wanted to hold his boy. He held his boy and prayed to God. He lifted up the broken body and declared he knew who God was and he begged for his son to be well. And the boy revived. And twenty years later, the healthy young man lives a full life.

No doubt the father has prayed similarly for his daughter.

The verse is from the Sermon on the Mount. It has Jesus who is speaking with authority. But who would deny the truth of that verse for good living?
