Woodlawn Lake in San Antonio TX

Today's flight was out at Woodlawn Lake, just a few miles northwest of downtown San Antonio, TX. I was able to capture some spectacular footage from the air, including a nice reflection off the lake while looking at the lighthouse with the downtown San Antonio Skyline in the background.

The water was rather murky near the shore with too much green algae. I wouldn't want to get in that lake with the water looking like that. You will be able to see the trails left by the speedboats and the ducks as they disturb the algae.

Toward the end of my flights, one of the speedboats developed electrical problems, as in a dead battery. Turns out the connector disconnected during a particular wild movement, but it left the boat stranded in the water about 20ft from the dock. (Did I mention how clear and inviting the lake water was?).

Fortunately, there were 2 guys with boats, so the second guy was able to nudge the stranded boat back towards the dock, sort of like a dolphin might do. I saved the rescue for the second half of the video, so be sure to watch until the end to see it.

I do take requests from folks that want to see different types of aerial photography / videos from areas they might not be able to access from the ground. I tend to avoid flying in residential neighborhoods because there are too many folks who see a drone and think it is spying on them. I'm not sure what they think would be that interesting, or how a relatively noisy drone could sneak up on anyone.
