Can the Senate Conduct an Impeachment Trial of a Former President?

Can the Senate conduct an impeachment trial after a President has left office? While there is no solid precedent either way, there is a strong argument that you can’t try a former President in the Senate under our Constitution. But one thing is for sure; such an attempt will not heal the land.
