Jerk bait Fishing Challenge - Megabass VS Jenko VS Rapala

We were all using jerk baits for this challenge. I just payed $20 bucks for the Megabass Vision 110 jr. because it was so beautiful! I have never been big on jerk baits for multiple reasons. They snag on everything, weeds, rocks, clothing, and fingers. The hooks get all tangled up when you put them in the tacklebox, but they do catch fish!

I was fishing with the 110 jr. Noah and Zach were using the Rapala Ultra Light Minnow in chrome and Gold and Amanda was using the Jenko Persues 110 (or Perseus, depending on the website you look at, strange right). Noah out fished us all with the chrome minnow because he is better than us, haha, and I think it matched the hatch a little better. The minnows that are out in this lake are around 2” long. That is what these bass are targeting the most so he did the best. The Jenko that Amanda was using was 4 ½ “ long and she ended up getting skunked. Zach came in second with the same 2 ½” Rapala Noah was using but his was gold. The Megabass jr. ended up catching 3 but I lost the biggest fish of the day too.

All in all it was a fun day on the water and we learned a lot. It is important to match the hatch when fishing with Jerkbaits since the big one got no bites. Bring pliers because the trebble hooks will stick you when the fish shakes its head. Jerkbaits will snag on everything. Bass strike hard so you have to be paying attention, and Jerkbait fishing is a lot of fun!
