The police lost control of Philadelphia, the media says it’s no big deal, and the NYT blames the unrest on the right-wing journalists filming the looting, but what really happened? I set out to Philadelphia to cover the unrest I knew was about to take place after I saw a video of a fatal confrontation between white officers and a black man armed with a knife in the west side. I can tell you this: The police weren’t ready for what was about to happen, and the details of this night are grim and shocking. This is my story.
