THE APOLOGY OF SOCRATES by Plato: ThinkingWest Podcast Ep. 01

This inaugural episode of the ThinkingWest Podcast deep dives into Plato's Apology of Socrates. This discussion of Plato's Apology includes more than just a summary of the trial of Socrates, instead delving into the historical context of the times, the lives of Plato and Socrates, and (most importantly) opening up into a philosophical discussion on wisdom, living an examined life, the result of death, what virtue is, and more. The podcast is largely for audio listening, though it has a few instances where visualizations of artwork or maps are referenced.

THE THINKINGWEST PODCAST
The whole goal of the ThinkingWest podcast is to recreate discussions that should be happening between people face to face. Using video and comments, we can approximate that and grow a community of people interested in classic works of the Western civilization, religion, philosophy, and from time-to-time politics. Leave a comment to join in the discussion!
Never read the work being discussed? No worries. I provided a brief synopsis of every work a the beginning so we can all be on the same page.

ABOUT THINKINGWEST
ThinkingWest explores ideas fundamental to Western Civilization and Christianity through thoughtful essays incorporating current events, history, philosophy, culture, education, and religion.
We aim first and foremost to spark an appreciation for the values that built the West. Our content strives for depth and meaning in an era plagued by six second attention spans and clickbait headlines. We challenge ourselves and our readers to read, reflect, and speak out on ideas that matter.
Join us in “thinking west” again.

NOTES
