"Move It On Over" Hank Williams, Sr.
Came in last night at half past ten
That baby of mine wouldn't let me in
So move it on over (move it on over)
Move it on over (move it on over)
Move over little dog cause the big dog's moving in
She changed the lock on my front door
My door key don't work no more
So get it on over (move it on over)
Scoot it on over (move it on over)
Move over skinny dog cause the fat dog's moving in
The dog house here is mighty small
But it's better than no house at all
So ease it on over (move it on over)
Drag it on over (move it on over)
Move over old dog cause a new dog's moving in
She told me not to play around
But I done let the deal go down
So pack it on over (move it on over)
Tote it on over (move it on over)
Move over nice dog cause a mad dog's moving in
She warned me once, she warned me twice
But I don't take no one's advice
So scratch it on over (move it on over)
Shake it on over (move it on over)
Move over short dog cause tall dog's moving in
She'll crawl back to me on her knees
I'll be busy scratching fleas
So slide it on over (move it on over)
Sneak it on over (move it on over)
Move over good dog cause a mad dog's moving in
Remember pup, before you whine
That side's yours and this side's mine
So shove it on over (move it on over)
Sweep it on over (move it on over)
Move over cold dog cause a hot dog's moving in.
"Move It On Over" is a very popular song written and recorded by the American mainly country music singer-songwriter Hank Williams in 1947. The song was Williams' first major hit, reaching #4 on the Billboard Singles chart. The song is considered one of the earliest examples of rock and roll music.
Many others have recorded and performed the song subsequently, notably hit versions by George Thorogood in the 1980s and Travis Tritt in the '90s.
Big band Tiny Hill and the Hilltoppers recorded and performed the song.
Bill Haley recorded "Move It on Over" for Decca Records.
Ray Charles included the song on his 1964 LP Have a Smile with Me.
Williams' son Hank Williams Jr. recorded the song for his 1980 album Habits Old and New.
George Thorogood and the Destroyers scored a major FM hit with the song when it was released on their second album Move It on Over. A version by Travis Tritt with George Thorogood was included on the 1999 King of the Hill: Original Soundtrack album. It peaked at #66 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart.[3] A live version by George Thorogood and the Destroyers was featured in the video game Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock.
The song was also featured in the 2011 video game LA Noire.
This song was playing softly on a radio in a locker room scene in the movie 42 about Jackie Robinson.
