Retired Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy Jim Herdt introduces this performance of “Ave Maria” by Musician 2nd Class Brian Mathis and Musician 3rd Class Kathryn Whitbeck, both assigned to U.S. Fleet Forces Band, to commemorate the 19th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on Sept.11, 2001. As the musical representative for U.S. Fleet Forces Command, the band provides support for ships, military bases, foreign dignitaries, and community events throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Ohio River Valley areas of the United States, and regularly deploys to Central and South America.
