This topic is probably one of the biggest challenges to people on the spiritual path including those that have experienced a spiritual awakening. When faced with a decision, how do you know which decision is the correct one?

I've struggled with this very issue myself. Logic would dictate that once we've been able to identify the ego, we should be able to "feel" our way to making the correct decision. However, the ego often poses as our higher self. This can actually make the decision making process worse!
