#DisruptTexts: A Rabbit Hole Of Social Justice Invading A Classroom Near You

I've been seeing the hashtag #DisruptTexts floating around lately, and I decided to take a look into it. Wow. What a rabbit hole I just stumbled down.

Disrupt Texts is a group of educators dedicated to "De-colonizing" the curriculum, as they put it. Basically, they want to replace classic literature with more contemporary, "POC-centric" literature. While I don't have a problem with teachers adjusting their curriculum to suit themselves, I do have a problem with how they're acting as they go about it.

Gloating on Twitter, calling classic literary works "trash," and teaching literature through the "Social Justice and Black Lives Matter Lens" just seems... weird... to me. Outright removing them from the curriculum just cause "MAH WOKENESS" is doing a huge disservice to the students you're trying to teach. One such teacher was recently caught gloating about having Homer's They Odyssey removed from her lesson plan because.... well... reasons?

More to come, I'm sure, as I dive into this craptastic cesspool of grievance culture, wokeness, and BLM nonsense. Hope you enjoy!
