1 egg
1/4 tsp salt
2 1/2 cupfuls bread flour
1/2 tsp soda
1/2 tsp baking-powder
1 cupful sour cream
1/2 ounce aniseed
Cream the butter with the sugar, add the egg well beaten and the salt. Sift together the flour, soda, and baking-powder. Add these dry ingredients to the egg and sugar mixture, then stir in the sour cream and the aniseed. Drop from the end of a spoon on a greased baking-sheet and bake at 400 degrees. for about twelve minutes. If a little sugar is sprinkled over the tops of the cakes just before they are put in the oven to bake, it will give them a delicious sugary surface.
