Children will learn the components of a newspaper and how one is set up.

Procedure: Ask student to read each box and talk about what they mean. Answer questions if any of the terms are unfamiliar.
You may want to break up the lesson into parts for younger children who may need supervision and assistance or to work in a group of students.
Student will think of a good title for their newspaper. Pick a topic on which to express and opinion to the editor, choose a verifiable fact, write a want ad, choose a local hero, and draw or find a photo for that hero.
Keep this sheet in a notebook or folder to practice these skills. Come up with more examples for your reading and writing.
