There was this kernel of hope the portrayed if future that was better than our future, and if it didn't portray a future that was better than our future, say it did there was a war or whatever you still had the good guys fighting for a better future there was still that hope for better things right hope for better things, and that's that was there in every series of Star Trek up until discovery.
