With negotiation time running out, the EU are doing their best to stall the process, to push Britain beyond the deadline date. The EU claim they don't have enough time to ratify an agreement if one can be found, so they would prefer another extension.

On Euronews, the Belgian MEP and member of the Brexit steering group, Philippe Lamberts, said they would like to keep the "status quo" to ratify an agreement. During that interview, he said that a deal takes typically 130 days, but they'll try to do it in weeks. He also said that this wouldn't be an extension just a ratification period to get a deal in place.

With this MEP saying he wants to keep the "status quo ", this would mean more money being sent to the EU and continued access for EU fishing fleets.
We've known the EU long enough to know they can not be trusted with the deadline date on when the UK leaves the EU.

The transition process was set for a reason, and now the EU are doing their best to push Britain up to the deadline to try and force Britain to extend in the name of securing a deal.

A new deadline date would mean new terms and conditions. The new terms and conditions would most likely be in favour of the EU as we are still under their rules.
