From The New York Post:
Gall of Nancy Pelosi: Salon for me, lockdown for you

It turns out that one of the most serious side effects of the coronavirus lockdowns is abject hypocrisy.

Throughout the pandemic, we have seen case after case of the sternest, most domineering public officials openly flouting the very rules they require ordinary Americans to uphold — on pain of severe penalties. But no example is as galling as Nancy Pelosi on Monday prancing around a San Francisco hair salon that by law was supposed to have been closed.

The House speaker wasn’t wearing a mask — a sin that these days sits just a notch below murder in the liberal mind.

Yes, the same woman who constantly accuses President Trump of denying science really didn’t know that she was supposed to wear a mask indoors around others, even though the others in the salon had on masks. Unless she has been hibernating in a cave, she like everyone else in the country has heard “wear a mask” approximately 200,000 times a day.

The salon owner apparently rents out her space to independent stylists, according to Fox News, and one of the stylists had offered to treat Pelosi. A spokesman for Pelosi on Tuesday claimed the speaker didn’t know using the salon, mask-less no less, was against the rules. On Wednesday, the speaker herself tripled down on the ignorance defense, demanding an “apology” from the salon and claiming she had been “set up.”

As for the mask question, Pelosi shot back: “I just had my hair washed. I don’t wear a mask when I’m washing my hair. Do you wear a mask when you’re washing your hair?” Luckily, thousands of Twitter users were on hand to reply: Yes, we do. I’ve had my own hair washed at a salon, and guess what? I had to wear a mask for the wash, too.

Gall, as I say, gall.

Of course Pelosi knew salons were closed. Of course her staff knew that she was breaking the rules, including the otherwise sacred mask diktats.

The speaker just didn’t care. The rules aren’t for her. The rules are for poor slobs like you and me.

The rules are for small-business owners, who have seen their life’s work destroyed. The rules are for kids who can’t go to school, for mourning Orthodox Jews who can’t hold funerals.

Nancy’s hair is more important than you.

Where are the Democrats who threw hissy fits for months about Trump not wearing a mask when the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention did not require them? The only rational response to this is anger.

But there is a deeper lesson here, and it is this: The wealthy scolds who order us around — would demand that ordinary Americans stand on our heads and bark like dogs if Dr. Anthony Fauci said so — are much more reasonable in their own lives. That is, they have found a balance between virus precautions and living normal lives.

Only you don’t get to strike that balance.

Nancy Pelosi refuses to apologize for salon jaunt, says she was 'set-up'
President Trump’s honesty, by contrast, shines through. He refuses to wear a mask when it isn’t called for. That’s unlike Joe Biden, who models his mask every chance he gets, even wearing it in perfectly irrational contexts. All the while, by the way, the ex-veep has yet to name a significant different choice he would have made as president that would have significantly altered the death count.

Perhaps some good can come of Pelosi’s ignominy. Perhaps seeing her insane hypocrisy, owners will start opening their businesses and daring petty tyrants like Mayor de Blasio and Gov. Cuomo to shut them down. One of the truly remarkable — and chilling — aspects of the more arbitrary lockdown rules is that, in general, they have been consented to, not enforced. We have given away our rights as much they have been taken from us. Well, if Pelosi doesn’t have to live under these absurd restrictions, then neither should you.

The jig is up here. People have a right to feel frustrated and furious, and they also have a right to disobey these crushing laws that Democratic leaders impose but refuse to live by.

If all of this is beginning to feel to you like a sick charade, you aren’t alone. This is a slap in the face, but Democrats and their media allies don’t care. They are counting on you to just take it. But the American people can only take so much before they start demanding their lives and livelihoods back.
