Setting Up A Distillation Column

Watch a distillation column be set up in high speed. We were distilling banana oil that we had synthesized the week before from isoamyl alcohol and acetic acid. The whole process of setting up the column took about 20 minutes. Watch as it is condensed down to less than one minute.

Remember that setting up any lab (including distillation) is a trial and error process. Gus (the friendly fellow in the video) did a great job of making adjustments along the way.

The video has been edited to remove times when Gus was retrieving necessary equipment.
