Axios reported this week the result of a year long investigation involving a woman by the name of Christine Fang, who officials believe was sent to the United States to cultivate relationships in an attempt to gain US intelligence by China.

The woman, also known as “Fang Fang” targeted up and coming politicians mainly in California but also across the country, such as Democratic Representative Eric Swalwell.

Its been reported that Fang was able to gain proximity to political power through romantic and sexual relationships with various political candidates, including two mid-western mayors.

While the incident happened between 2011 and 2015, officials believe that this was a political intelligence operation run by China’s main civilian spy agency, and didn’t produce any fruit, meaning that no intelligence was provided to China.
