PA Lawmakers Introduce Resolution To Formally Dispute Election, Withdraw State's Certification

Republican state lawmakers introduced a resolution to formally dispute the 2020 election results in Pennsylvania yesterday.

The resolution states quote

“Officials in the Executive and Judicial Branches of the Commonwealth infringed upon the General Assembly’s authority under the Constitution of the United States by unlawfully changing the rules governing the November 3rd, 2020 election in the Commonwealth”.

The resolution cites 3 steps that were taken by the executive and judicial branches that changes the rules of the election.

The first is that on September 17th the PA Supreme Court unlawfully extended the deadline by which mail in ballots could be received, mandated that ballots without a postmark would be treated as timely, and allowed for ballots without a verified voter signature to be accepted.

Second, the PA Supreme Court ruled on October 23 that signatures on mail in ballots need not be authenticated.

And third, the secretary of the commonwealth quote “encouraged certain counties to notify party and candidate representatives of mail in voters whose ballots contained defects” on November 2nd.

The resolution states that ALL of these changes are contrary to the Pennsylvania Election Code, which requires mail in ballots to be received by 8pm on Election day, mandates that signatures on mail in ballots be authenticated, and forbids the counting of defective mail in ballots.
