Lacey's Wassail / Mulled Cider:
1/2 Gallon Apple Cider
1 Whole Orange, sliced
1 Whole Apple, sliced
3 Pods Star Anise
1"-2" piece Fresh Ginger, sliced
4 Small (3"-4") Cinnamon Sticks
2 Tbls. Dark Brown Sugar (OR serve with caramel drizzle)

Combine cider with spices in covered pot and heat over medium until barely a simmer, reduce to low and steep 10 minutes more. Remove spices and fruit, gently smooshing oranges to retain some of their juice. Keep warm until ready to serve. Can also be made in slow cooker on low setting.
