Reducing Black Powder Fouling and Leading and How To Clean Your Barrel

Dealing with fouling and leading in black powder cartridge rifles. The lube I'm using is SPG and I like it.

Tips on cleaning your barrel:
I just did a lot of research looking for a video on cleaning a Sharps rifle and there's nothing out there that I could find! There's a ton of stuff on cleaning muzzle loaders, but that's completely different. Sorry to say, but I had to stop making fire arm related videos on y t because of their policies and how it affects my channel, but here's some tips just for you: First of all, start with nothing but wet patches (distilled water and maybe a very small amount of Dawn dishsoap or some other), a small amount being a few drops in a spray bottle. After about 4 of these patches you'll have most of the fouling out so now run a couple of dry patches and look for lead deposits on the patch. If there's no lead particles showing then run some Cowboy Blend down the bore and let it soak for about 20 minutes and check for lead again using a tightly fitted patch (you should still be able to push the patch through by hand, only using a lot more pressure). If you see lead on the patch do this part again until it disappears. Then run a couple of dry patches through followed by some lubricant/bore protector. For this, I swear by Super Lube, but even Remoil works ok. If your patches still show a little gray color on them so be it. Don't try to over-clean your barrel! Hope this helps.
