Car Pursues Hit and Run Driver on Highway

Info from Licensor: "Passing on the right, especially in a merging lane is against the law. The driver of the Toyota is required to slow down and merge when it is safe to do so. There was a car merging in front of him and speeding up to try and merge between me and that Mazda in front is absolutely illegal and unsafe. Yes, I could have slowed down, but I didn't expect him to just hit me instead. I am not required to slow down in a live lane to let someone merge in front of me unsafely. It's his responsibility to check his mirrors and only merge when safe to do so. Most passing is done on the left. You may pass on the right on multi-lane or one-way roads and when overtaking a streetcar or a left-turning vehicle.
Passing on the right can be more dangerous than passing on the left. If you are driving in the left most lane with a slower vehicle in front of you, wait for the vehicle to move to the right. Do not suddenly change lanes and pass on the right; the driver in front may realize you want to pass and move to the right at the same time you do."
