Processed Foods in Pigs and Kids: Garbage in Equals Garbage Out

You may think the old adage that you are what you eat is a bunch of malarkey, but my recent experiences tell me that it is true.

First, the kids get all hopped up on candy from Halloween. Bouncing off walls and huge mood swings dominated our house for a few weeks.

Second, most people who know me understand that I am an idiot, and like an idiot, I ran out of our normal pig feed of field peas for a few days. While we waited for our new shipment to arrive, I resorted to feeding the pigs commercial hog feed. When fed the highly processed commercial feed my pigs became savage wild animals in a matter of days. They were like drug addicts looking for their next fix at meal times.

It's completely anecdotal, but I'm convinced that when it comes to what you eat, garbage in equals garbage out.
