Unboxing the Sony PlayStation 5 Disc Version - Next Gen Gaming is HERE!
In this video, we unbox the just-launched Sony PlayStation 5, DualSense controller, DualSense Charging Station, and Media Remote.
the launch of the PlayStation 5 is finally here, and thanks to my local GameStop I was able to pick one up. Between the two different variants, the digital only and the traditional featuring a disk drive, I went with the traditional system which included a disk drive. In addition to the system itself, I also picked up Sackboy, Spider-Man Miles Morales, the Media Remote, and the Charging Station for the Dual Sense controllers.
Unboxing the system, the first thing that blew me away was exactly how large this system is. Everybody had talked about how big the PlayStation 5 was, but nobody ever did it true justice. Until you see one in person or hold one for yourself you truly can't appreciate just how massive this system is. And it is heavy too! For example, it is larger than the PS3 fat, and the original PlayStation 4. This is one honking big system.
The PlayStation 5 includes a DualSense controller, a power cable, and HDMI cable, USB-C charge cable, and your manuals. I did not notice the USB-C cable right away, it was actually under part of the cardboard insert where the power cable was as well.
One thing I am not a fan of is the pedestal mount. If you are going to lay the system down, which I will be, it does not permanently attach to the system in a secure fashion. This means that it can be bumped and slid off by accident. Not cool.
The DualSense Charging Station can charge two DualSense controllers at one time. I was hoping this would utilize a USB cable connected to the system itself, but it actually uses its own separate power brick and cord. I am not a fan of this setup, not at all. I really wish that I could just connect to one of the open USB ports on my PlayStation 5 for power, but that is not how this charging dock was designed. the folks over at KMD have already teased a dual charging station for the PlayStation 5, and I'm hoping to be able to check it out in early 2021.
The PlayStation 5 media remote is nothing short of exceptional. They slimmed down the number of buttons and features on the face of the remote itself, and quite honestly the simplification is much appreciated period there were so many buttons on the PS3 and PS4 media remote that went unused. I like the fact that it has a built-in speaker for voice recognition similar to a Fire TV, Apple tv, or Google TV. I also appreciate the four services button at the bottom of the remote itself. Netflix, Disney+, Spotify, and YouTube are all here and easily accessible.
This is the first PlayStation that I've actually bought at launch, and I'm really excited to dive into the system even further. Make no bones about it, the PlayStation 5 is one massive system, so we will have to see if the performance matches the size. Make sure you stay subscribed to the channel as we have more PlayStation 5 content coming soon.
