The Second Amendment to the US Constitution reads:

A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

It's been called "the amendment that protects all the others." A fierce, decades-long debate about its meaning shows no signs of abating. Some would like to repeal it, or re-interpret it to eliminate the individual freedom it guarantees. As a result, the Supreme Court is regularly asked to weigh in, and its pronouncements have profound impact on our exercise of this right.
