Restless and longing to break free to embrace the warming rays of summertime? Pooling their talents as The Thompson/Lamb Project (TLP), veteran saxophonist Patrick Lamb and legendary guitarist Michael Thompson create a fun, freewheeling just in the nick of time escape from this anxious and uncertain era with their debut single “Cocoa Butter,” due to drop June 8. A joyful and jazzy tropical delight, the soulful and funky, instantly infectious, brass fired track is the duo’s way of lifting our collective spirits away from what we’ve been going through. The festive, high-spirited showcase for their dual talents brings us back into the sunshine with a fresh, carefree beachy island vibe full of positive, hopeful energy.
“Cocoa Butter” is the perfect vehicle to launch the dynamic partnership between two of popular music’s most renowned and storied sidemen. In addition to his years of touring with Diane Schuur, Bobby Caldwell, Gino Vanelli and Jeff Lorber Fusion, Lamb has released five solo albums and scored three Top 5 hits on the Billboard Smooth Jazz Songs chart. His latest Top 20 single “Homebrew” has over 300,000 streams on Spotify. Thompson, one of the most recorded musicians of all time, has played on hits by Celine Dion, Cher, Whitney Houston, Eric Clapton, Shania Twain, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Mariah Carey and hundreds of others. The two are joined on “Cocoa Butter” by fellow studio legends, Grammy nominated keyboardist Philippe Saisse and drummer extraordinaire John “J.R.” Robinson.
