AI Defeats Fighter Pilot in 5/5 Engagements. DARPA is Bringing AI Systems to the Public. Yay.

AlphaDogFight Trials is the precursor to DARPA’s Air Combat Evolution (ACE) program. Eight companies competed for the top spot and the ability to fight a human fighter pilot at the end. The company’s involved are Aurora Flight Sciences, Episys Systems, Georgia Tech Research Institute, Heron Systems, Lockheed-Martin, Perspecta, Physics AI, & SoarTech. Heron Systems wins and goes on to beat the fighter pilot in 5 out of 5 games. This result caused me to look closer at the tech to see just how close we are to the realization of AI flown aircraft. During a closer look I found some extremely interesting conversations by DARPA leads that should shed some light put on them before this technology takes off... before they accomplish what the program director calls, “human-AI symbiosis.” That’s not alarming at all. Anyway, not my usual upload, but I feel an important topic. Probably more important than we all know.
