Yes, you should care that Kim Kardashian donated $1 Million to Armenia…

Kim Kardashian, Cher, Dan Bilzerian and others have all donated money to Armenia and encouraged their fans to do the same.

Armenia and Azerbaijan are at war. In this video I explain why Kim Kardashian is getting involved and why we should all be a little worried about what's happening in a relatively obscure part of the world.

On the 27th of September 2020 Armenia and Azerbaijan reinitiated hostilities along their border.

The fighting has been intense and the casualties high. Reports indicate civilians on both sides are being targeted.

A ceasefire brokered on the 9th of October 2020 by Russia has not held.

Armenia and Azerbaijan have a long and complicated history. Armenians as a distinct cultural group have occupied the region known as Transcaucasia for at least 3500 years. Armenians have fought, mostly unsuccessfully, against the great Empires (Parthia, Seleucid, Byzantine, Umayyad, Ottoman etc. etc.) and Conquerors (Mongols, Persians, Rome, Soviets etc. etc.) of the world and survived. While the Azerbaijanis can trace their heritage and ancestry in the region back 1400 years to the rise of Islam and the fall of the Byzantine empire.

At times they have lived as neighbours and in harmony but in the last 150 years the times of peace have frequently given way to ethnic and religious war over land, similar to conflicts fought in the Balkans.

This latest round of violence stems from the the ethnic Armenian majority break-away Azerbaijani province of Nagorno-Karabakh which calls itself the republic of Artsakh and is supported in this by Armenia.

When the Soviet Union collapse the two sides fought a war. The Republic of Artsakh was successful in securing its autonomy but the war ended in a ceasefire and not a peace.

The Azerbaijanis want the province back and want to liberate lands occupied by Armenia.

Backed by Turkey and with their larger population and Oil resources they look ready to do so...if Russia and Iran do not intervene!
