South Africa - Durban - 23 January 2020 - Life is still the same for scholars from kwaHlazakazi, about 40 km from Dundee as they still have to cross uMzinyathi river going to school and back. The river is icy cold in winter, flooded in summer making it extremely difficult to get across. Most pupils have left the area, with others renting rooms just across the river and others relocating to other areas where they can easily access schools. However, those remaining, have to use buckets to keep their school uniforms and school bags dry from the water. At some stage, when the river is overflowing, it is impossible to cross, forcing them to stay away from school until it is safe to do so. Picture: Doctor Ngcobo/African News Agency(ANA) (5SE)
