A 23-YEAR-OLD boxer with dwarfism is proving that regardless of his height, he is still able to pack a mighty punch. Demond Boyer, from Florida, was born with Spondyloepiphyseal Dysplasia Congenita (SED) - a form of dwarfism that occurs in less than 1 in 100,000 children. Standing at just 3ft 1”, he faces everyday challenges that others may take for granted - such as reaching for kitchen cupboards, using the ATM and getting his groceries at the store. However, he doesn’t let his small stature hold him back and instead, is determined to push his physical limits through weight-lifting and boxing. Demond first entered the boxing ring at 19 years old - and has proved that big things can certainly come in small packages. But he says that many people still underestimate his abilities and are often surprised to hear about his passion for boxing. “When I tell people I box their reaction is definitely a surprise. But then when they see me, they're like, ‘Oh no, like, this little guy really can fight!’. I definitely don't let dwarfism define me, it's a huge part of my life, without a doubt. And it's the first thing you see when you look at me physically, for sure. But there's a lot more to me than just this.”
