Jack Frost had played the night before.

The lower branches of birch trees lining the woodland paths were in golden contrast to the still green tree tops. Leaves, bordered in bright reds, caused maple trees to stand out from the pines and cedars. The mountain brooks, woodland streams, small ponds all steamed up dawn fog, their waters now warmer than the morning air.
