SOUTH AFRICA - Cape Town - SAPS Mounted Unit (Video) (3id)
South Africa - Cape Town - 28 February 2019 - The Western Cape Mounted Police Unit show their skills in an early morning training session. It’s a novelty having horses on the streets of Cape Town. Locals and tourists regularly ask for photographs with the unit members and then start a conversation. Its important for the police to interact with the public and the horses seems to interject a calm presents. But when the unit is needed for crime prevention, the horse become the riders eyes and ears. The horses move swiftly yet silently, and easily make their way through crowds, over undulating terrain, through pathways and on the beaches. Even a nimble-footed suspect would think twice before deciding to flee from a police horse. Video: Armand Hough/African News Agency(ANA) (3id)
