SOUTH AFRICA - Durban - Alick Rennie hits the high seas (Videos) (BDJ)

South Africa - Durban - 31 May 2019 - On the 31 May 2019 saw the launch of the state-of-the-art NSRI rescue vessel SAR ORC Alick Rennie in Durban – the first of its kind in Africa. The blessing ceremony for the new vessel was attended by a host of dignitaries, including the French ambassador, Christophe Farnaud, and members of the shipping industry’s Rennie family, who sponsored the new sea rescue craft. The 14m ORC sea rescue craft was built in France and delivered to South Africa by Safmarine. The craft will be able to travel faster while toughing it out in higher seas and rough weather conditions.
