Newport man killed in police-chase crash identified

A 28-year-old's high-speed flight from law enforcement on Friday night began with an attempted traffic stop and ended in a fatal crash. The wreck killed 81-year-old Raymond Laible, who had been sitting outside Newport's Press on Monmouth cafe when 28-year-old Mason Meyer’s vehicle veered off the road and struck him.
