What happens if you microwave grapes ?

Can fire be obtained from grapes?

The answer is yes .. if you microwaved the grapes !!

Why ?
Grapes forms plasma as a result of the loose electrons and ions by the effect of thermal energy resulting a fruity fireball.
Why ?
since the frequency of microwave is about 2045 GHz. Therefore the wave length through AIR about 12 c.m.
But the index of refraction is almost 10.
which means : microwaves are travelling *10 slower through the grape than through the air. Therefore the wave length inside the grape about 1.2 c.m..

now cut the grape into 2 halves

Inside the first half the single microwave gets trapped where it bounces back and forth, heating up the center of the grape to out side.. opposite to the mechanism of heating food in microwave from outside towards the center.

In the second half microwaves are also trapped.
So when placing the 2 halves near together, the trapped microwaves can hop between them.
Resulting a strong electromagnetic field.
The electromagnetic field helps the electrons and ions to escape producing the plasma which appears as fruity fireball.

Don't try this at home too often to not ruin your parents' microwave..
